Technical Training Centre

To deliver high-quality, hands-on aircraft maintenance training, our Brisbane Technical Training Centre features a fully operational hangar with a wide range of static aircraft and an industry-standard operating environment.

The following aircraft are invaluable training aids that allow students to learn and carry out actual repairs and maintenance on real aircraft under the supervision of licensed and fully accredited training staff.

Flight Safety Training Centre

Our Flight Safety Training Centre is the Asia-Pacific region’s first independent cabin crew training facility and is fully equipped to deliver the best flight safety training in the industry, with a full practical hall area, as well as a large pool.

Cabin crew students undertake hands-on flight attendant training using cabin simulators, mock-ups, door trainers and survival rafts in an authentic simulated environment. Students will experience first-hand, all scenarios that life as a flight attendant could feature, enabling them to be holistically trained and prepared to succeed in their career with an airline.

Training aides and equipment includes:

  • B737 Cabin Trainer

The B737 Cabin Trainer incorporates audio/visual effects, a working communication system and closed-circuit cameras to monitor emergency procedure scenarios.

  • Wide-Body Cabin Trainer

The Wide-Body Cabin Trainer can be utilised for fire/smoke simulations, decompression scenarios as well as for service training with a working oven. Our central, glassed supervisors’ station will ensure a comprehensive observation and evaluation process can be undertaken with playback video and microphones.

  • Fire Trainer

Bullex Fire Trainer for live fire training.

  • Door Trainers

Doors available for training include: B737 Main door, OWE/B767/B747/B777/B787/A320/A330 Type A, Type 1 and Dash 8.

  • Slides and Rafts

Slides and rafts available include: Slides – A320/A330/B737   Rafts – 46 man, 25 man, 11 man winslow, B787 and A330/20 slide/rafts.

  • Ditching pool

The heated ditching pool is 20 metres in length, 12 metres in width and 2 metres deep.

Facilities

Student parking is located in nearby Melia Street (off Boronia Road).

The Aviation Australia precinct is controlled by Brisbane Airport Corporation, therefore parking outside nominated areas may attract fines.

Student and customer parking is not available in the staff car park or visitor/café carparks – these areas are for short term visitors only.

Translink provides bus service routes that stop outside of Aviation Australia. You may be eligible for student concession if you are currently enrolled in an eligible course.

A technical training reference library is available where library publications may be loaned on a short-term loan basis under the approval of a staff member. ‘On loan’ library materials are the responsibility of the student and students will be required to pay full replacement cost of any items lost or damaged.

All students will have access to computers at the discretion of Aviation Australia and in accordance with Aviation Australia’s policies and procedures. Computers and internet access are not available for use other than study related use.

Food trucks are available on campus. Kitchen style facilities, with a fridge and vending machines are also available (in the Technical Training and Flight Safety Training buildings).

A non-denominational prayer room facility is available to all students during business hours. Students are not permitted to bring portable heaters/cooling fans or other electrical equipment for use within the prayer room.

Showers, lockers and change facilities are available in all buildings.
