Part 66 Examinations

Aviation Australia is approved to conduct CASR and EASA Part 66 Basic knowledge examinations for A and B category licences.

All Part 66 Basic knowledge examinations are conducted in accordance with a prescriptive examination standard which is laid out in the respective Competent Authority’s regulations. All examinations are time based with a pass mark of 75%.

Multi-Choice Question (MCQ) examinations;

  • are conducted electronically,
  • have a nominal average duration of 75 seconds (1.25 minutes) per question

Essay examinations;

  • are paper-based,
  • have an overall duration of 20 minutes per question

Part 66 Theory Packages

Aviation Australia offers self-study training material and exam packages that satisfy either CASA or EASA Part 66 basic knowledge theory requirements for the following licence categories:

CASR Part 66

  • B1.1 – (Mechanical) fixed-wing aircraft with gas turbine engines,
  • B1.2 – (Mechanical) fixed-wing aircraft with piston engines,
  • B1.3 – (Mechanical) rotary-wing aircraft with gas turbine engines,
  • B1.4 – (Mechanical) rotary-wing aircraft with piston engines,
  • B2 – (Avionics) fixed and rotary-wing aircraft

EASA Part 66

  • B1.1 – (Mechanical) fixed-wing aircraft with gas turbine engines,
  • B1.3 – (Mechanical) rotary-wing aircraft with gas turbine engines,
  • B2 – (Avionics) fixed and rotary-wing aircraft
