The school to work pathway allows school students to take the first step to a career within the aviation industry. The Certificate II in Aircraft Line Maintenance (MEA20518) provides basic level knowledge and skills to perform a range of specified maintenance tasks on aircraft on a flight line or at the departure gate.
The VETDSS program is conducted for Year 10 and 11 students, over 18 months. This qualification can lead to future Aeroskills apprenticeships/traineeships. This qualification is also a pathway to achieving a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Category A Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence – which allows authorised personnel to release aircraft to service.
This course is funded by the Northern Territory Government through the Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) program.
VETDSS allows students to undertake nationally recognised training whilst undertaking years 10/11/12 at school. This training can count towards the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET).
