MEA405 Repair/modify aircraft composite material structure/components

This unit of competency is often required by qualified aircraft maintenance engineers so that they can be approved as a ‘specially qualified person’ to perform composite structure maintenance of specified aircraft within a CAR 30 Maintenance Organisation, or specialist maintenance task/processes in a CASR Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO).

MEASTR0002 has the prerequisite MEA401 Inspect Aircraft Structures.

Duration of gap training will be determined based on evidence provided

This unit of competency will enable students to:

  • Plan repair/modification
  • Prepare components for hot bonding
  • Repair/modify components using hot bond
  • Repair/modify components using cold cure
  • Resume
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s licenses (local and/or foreign)
  • Company authorisations/approvals
  • Letters of endorsement of privileges exercised (QA)
  • Australian (VET) Qualifications and Statements of Attainment
  • Part 66 theory results (EASA, CASA, GCAA) from Approved Part 147 organisations
  • CASA Basic (CAR31) exam results
  • Licensing exam results
  • Workplace service letters
  • Trade certificates and qualifications
  • Training certificates (type training, skills training)
  • Qualification certificates (Certificates, Diplomas, Degrees, etc.)
  • Company training records
