This September, Aviation Australia celebrated the people, industry partnerships, and programs shaping the future of aviation. Through innovation, collaboration, and a strong commitment to the next generation, we showcased the incredible work opportunities happening across our sector.
Aviation Australia – Industry Engagement Month Wrap Up
This month has been an important one for Aviation Australia as we have given extra focus in continuing to celebrate milestones and deepen our engagement across the aviation and aerospace industry. From summits and ribbon cuttings to training innovations and workforce initiatives, each event reflects our commitment to Australia’s aviation future.
Highlights from the month:
- Industry Insights Day At our Brisbane Campus, Cert IV Aeroskills students connected with industry through panels and networking providing them with career exploration across Defence, Commercial, Rotary, and MRO sectors. The day provided valuable opportunities for students and staff to learn directly from industry about apprenticeships, onboarding, exciting projects and future career pathways.
- Expanding Training Facilities & Resources Three significant milestones are advancing our national training footprint. We welcomed the retired Qantas 717 to our Brisbane hangar, where it will serve as a real-world training platform for the next generation of engineers in partnership with the Qantas. In Townsville, we announced the 2026 opening of the new Townsville Aviation Training Academy with Boeing Defence Australia, a purpose-built hub to support both rotary and fixed-wing platforms. And at our Brisbane Campus, the Flight Services Training Centre received two new training aids this month, including the A321 Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer (CEET), which delivers immersive, scenario-based training for cabin crew and pilots in both routine and emergency procedures.
- Australian Aviation Summit  CEO Glenn Ryan joined national leaders on the Securing Australia’s Aviation Future panel, addressing sustainability, sovereign capability, and the importance of reinforcing successful programs like the Aerospace Gateway for Schools program to build out a robust workforce pipeline.
- Regional Engagement & Queensland Training Awards Our teams remain passionate and connected to industry, from the RAAA Regional Roadshow in Hobart to the Essendon Fields event in Melbourne. We were also proud to be recognised as a runner up at the Queensland Training Awards, celebrating the recognition and realisation of our organisation’s role in educating students and delivering training programs on the state’s biggest stage.
- Global Engagement – Our teams visited partners and students in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, strengthening our international training networks and global delivery capabilities.
Leading Innovation in Training Delivery
Aviation Australia is redefining how training is delivered across the sector through initiatives that go well beyond the upgrading of training aids. Our apprenticeship management framework, the launch and evolution of a new eJournal platform, a strong commitment to VET in Schools programs, and the rollout of a modular licensing model in the Northern Territory demonstrate our leadership in creating transparent, flexible, and future-ready pathways for both students and employers.
Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow
Equally, access to modern, fully capable training aids is vital to ensuring the next generation of aviation professionals is workforce-ready. By pairing advanced learning tools with innovative delivery models, we are equipping graduates to be confident, hands-on, skilled and prepared to thrive in real-world environments and meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industry.
