Becoming Aircraft Maintenance Engineer School to Work Pathway

The Certificate II in Aircraft Line Maintenance (MEA20518) or Certificate II in Aeroskills (MEA20418)  is a great opportunity to help students make an informed decision about their study and work options.

This VET in school program was designed for year 10 and 11 students and runs over approximately 2 years. Students will learn basic level knowledge and skills to perform a range of specified maintenance tasks on aircraft, which can lead to future Aeroskills apprenticeships/traineeships.

For those looking to take their career in aviation further, as you’ll learn the basic level of knowledge and skills to perform a range of specified maintenance tasks on aircraft, the Certificate II in Aircraft Line Maintenance (MEA20518) is a pathway to becoming a Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

Certificate II in Aircraft Line Maintenance (QLD) now accept applications through TAFE QLD. For Northern Territory or Victoria please contact [email protected] for further enrolment information.

Future students must now submit their applications using the TAFE Pathways System following the steps below:

How does it work?

Entry requirements for the course are as follows:

  • Students must be either in Year 10 or 11 at the time of enrolment
  • Latest school report
  • Queensland Residency (at the time of enrolment)
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency

The Certificate II in Aeroskills (MEA20418) is undertaken as a Vocational Education and Training in schools program. No aircraft leaves the ground without being checked by an engineer. Being an aircraft maintenance engineer means working on the most exciting and advanced technology in the world. It’s a hands-on and extremely rewarding career pathway where you literally see your hard work take off.

*There is no student co-contribution tuition fee for eligible applicants.
