This week we celebrate NAIDOC Week (Sunday 3 July to Sunday 10 July) and the theme for this year is “Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!”.
This means that everyone should rally together to call for systematic change, whether it’s seeking proper environmental, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, a comprehensive process of truth-telling, working towards treaties, or calling out racism.
It must be a genuine commitment by all of us to Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! and support and secure institutional, structural, collaborative, and cooperative reforms. We need to move beyond just acknowledgement and good intentions.
