Aviation Australia will have a closure period from 22 December 2025 to 5 January 2026, wishing our students and partners happy holidays and a happy new year.

Aviation Australia partnership with Royal Brunei Airlines

Aviation Australia partnered with Royal Brunei Airlines in 2025 to jointly develop Royal Brunei Airlines’ engineering workforce. 10 students are currently undertaking the Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, delivered by Aviation Australia, the only approved registered training organisation in Australia delivering this program under CRICOS and EASA part EASA.147.0012 approvals.

“Aviation Australia develops workforce capability for Australia and the internationally aviation community,” said Aviation Australia CEO Glenn Ryan. “We are proud to collaborate with Royal Brunei Airlines to build a skilled, future-ready aviation workforce. Our current students are excelling, and we value the professionalism and commitment they bring to our institution.”

The Royal Brunei Airlines partnership is already delivering strong outcomes, strengthening the technical capability of a cohort of highly motivated students. Individually, the students are performing at a high standard and demonstrating strong commitment to their training and professional development.

Aviation Australia instructors and campus staff have noted the cohort’s professionalism, teamwork, and engagement throughout the program. Their camaraderie and respect for one another and their instructors have been exemplary, contributing positively to their learning environment.

“It’s been really good. Instructors have been hands on with the materials they give us, it’s been visually, practically and auditorily stimulating, I really enjoy the learning experience here.” said Naila Muhd Rais Pang, A Royal Brunei Airlines Engineering Apprentice.

Where opportunities arise to experience more of what Aviation Australia offers, the class has embraced them.

“The professionalism and teamwork shown by this cohort has been outstanding. They are highly engaged in their training, support one another, and consistently demonstrate the behaviours expected of future aircraft maintenance engineers,” said Ian Smythe, Chief Academic Officer, Aviation Australia.

Only a few months into their course, their biggest adjustments were in the process of getting settled again, relocating and having to learn their new local areas (pharmacies, supermarkets and transport) and navigate time differences to speak to their family back home – their experience overall has been good with a touch of healthy pressure as they know the value of their studies and what it means to the Royal Brunei Airlines.

The cohort will continue their studies in Brisbane and are scheduled to graduate in July 2027 before returning to Royal Brunei Airlines to work across the fleet of 13 aircraft and continue their careers within the organisation.

“We see this partnership as underpinning our robust initiatives to achieve expansion through quality and global connectivity. This collaboration is of great importance to our fleet operations,” said a Royal Brunei Airlines spokesperson.

This partnership strengthens Aviation Australia’s growing network of international training relationships, adding Brunei to established collaborations across Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
