Brisbane, Australia: Aviation Australia today announced three new appointments to its Board of Directors, strengthening the organisation’s governance and industry insight as it continues to deliver world-class training and workforce solutions for Australia’s aviation sector.
Aviation Australia inspires and develops world leading professionals for the aviation and aerospace industry with accredited and unaccredited training. Chair, Elsa Dalessio welcomed Beyond Blue Chief Experience Officer Susan Kelso, Business Development executive Mark Xavier and UnitingCare Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Lead Lorelei Baum who will join the Board for four-year terms.
Ms Dalessio said the registered training organisation would benefit from the new Directors who would bring a depth of experience and a shared commitment to student success.
“Their appointment will support Aviation Australia to further advance school, career starter and career development programs for students through hands-on training as well as delivering tangible career outcomes.
“The Aviation Australia Board oversees the work and direction of the organisation, which trains over 2,000 students annually, including more than 800 apprentices nationwide,” said Ms Dalessio.
The three new appointments bring the number of Board directors to seven. The other Aviation Australia Board directors include Ms Sara Hales, Mr Christopher Edwards and Mr Rick Heaton.

Beyond Blue Chief Experience Officer Ms Susan Kelso joins the Board as a highly-
experienced leader with a career history spanning the aviation, transport, health,
construction and not-for-profit sectors.
Business Development executive and investor Mr Mark Xavier currently leads a team of software and aeronautical engineers, and brings to the Board extensive experience in robotics and artificial intelligence.
While Ms Lorelei Baum is the Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Lead at
UnitingCare Queensland and brings further governance experience from her role on the TAFE Queensland Board.
