Instructor-led Theory Course

This course is delivered in two blocks:
Block A – Week 1 & 2 (Module 3 and 4)
Block B – Week 3 & 4 (Module 5 and partial 11/12)

Providing the option to complete in one sitting or two.

This is a fast-paced course with a high level of technical content. We provide pre-course training material and you are required to complete this prior to commencing the course. During the course, a minimum of 10 hours per week self-study is expected, to revise and prepare for the regulatory examinations.

Access to the courseware will be provided approximately 4 weeks prior to course commencement (or upon enrolment confirmation if within 4 weeks). You will have 90 days online access.

Enrolments close 2 weeks prior to course commencement to allow sufficient time for pre-course study.

CASR Part 66 basic knowledge examinations can be booked at any of our approved exam locations, via our website. Any resit examinations required will be charged at our standard exam rate.

1. Aviation Australia’s courseware and exam content are periodically subjected to Regulatory changers and updates, and therefore exam titles may change accordingly.  You must ensure the applicable exam is selected, relating to the qualification you are presently seeking and / or Licence held.
2. If you have both Fixed wing (B1.1 and/ or B1.2) and Rotary wing (B1.3 and/ or B1.4) licenses, and wish to have Exclusions E1, E4 & E5 removed from your licenses, please be aware it is a CASA requirement to study for & sit both the following approved examinations:
   • CASA B1.1 and B1.2 11f, 11k, 11.6, 11.14 and pt 7.7 – Aeroplane systems (Instruments/Avionics Modular) Electrical Power and Lights, Electrical Cable and Connectors (License Exclusion Removal only)
   • CASA B1.3 and B1.4 12f, 12k, 12.8, 12.15, 12.13 and pt 7.7 Helicopter Systems (Instruments/Avionics Modular) Electrical Power and Lights, Ice and Rain Protection, Electrical Cable and Connectors (License Exclusion Removal only)
3. If you are unable to complete the practical requirements in your workplace, Aviation Australia have a practical course available at an additional cost. Please note the theory examinations must successfully be completed prior to attending the practical training course.

The practical course is inclusive of the RPL assessment for E1, E4 & E5 only and covers the practical requirements identified in the CASR Part 66 Manual of Standards for Exclusions E1, E4 and E5. The practical course is designed for experienced engineers who have completed the theory course. All applicants must have a good understanding of electrical and electronic fundamentals, digital techniques and electronic instrument systems.
